HAS Rice Pakistan operates its own rice processing mill in Badin, Sindh, the heart of Pakistan's IRRI-6 growing region. The Badin plant processes non-basmati long grain rice including IRRI-6 (FOB $325-$393/MT), IRRI-9, PK386, and 100% broken rice. Basmati varieties (1121 Basmati, Super Kernel, and D98) are processed at our Karachi facility. Combined daily capacity is 150 MT. The Badin plant was independently audited by SGS Pakistan in January 2024 (Reference AGR-23540). Our mills deliver four milling grades: Brown Rice, Reasonably Well Milled, Extra Well Milled, and Silky Polished. Every lot is pre-shipment inspected by SGS, Bureau Veritas, or Intertek. Pakistan Rice Mill in Badin and Karachi Processing Facility

HAS Rice Pakistan has been in the food trade since 1962. Our family began rice exports in 2005. We operate our own non-basmati processing plant in Badin, Sindh, deep in Pakistan's IRRI-6 growing belt. The facility was independently audited by SGS Pakistan in January 2024 (Reference AGR-23540).

Non-basmati rice (IRRI-6, IRRI-9, PK386, and broken grades) is processed at our Badin plant in Sindh. Basmati rice (1121, Super Kernel, and D98) is processed at our Karachi facility, close to the port. Combined daily processing capacity is 150 MT across both sites.

The Badin plant sits in the middle of Sindh's IRRI-6 growing region. Paddy moves from field to mill in hours, not days. Basmati paddy, grown 1,000+ km north in Punjab, is sourced and milled through our Karachi operations. This split keeps each variety close to its crop origin.

Both operations are ISO 22000, ISO 9001, HACCP, and GMP certified. Pre-shipment inspection by SGS, Bureau Veritas, or Intertek happens on-site before container loading.

Independent Third-Party Survey

Our Badin Mill Was Surveyed by SGS Pakistan in January 2024

SGS Pakistan conducted a full plant survey of our Badin processing facility on 20 January 2024. The survey documents our de-husking and milling line, color sorting equipment, storage silos, warehouse capacity, weighbridge, and production rates. It is the most comprehensive third-party verification of our mill operations.

The report confirms a silky rice line rate of 5 MT/hour and a broken rice line rate of 1.5 MT/hour, 110 MT of silo storage, 2,500 MT of raw paddy warehouse capacity, 500 MT of processed rice warehouse capacity, and a 100 MT on-site weighbridge. It names our equipment types and confirms the TAI HO optical color sorter.

Processing Flow

Rice Milling Process: From Paddy to Container

Every grain passes through eight processing stages before it reaches the packing line.

Paddy Intake

Raw paddy sourced direct from farmers in Sindh (for Badin) and Punjab (for Karachi) during harvest season. Moisture and grain quality checked at intake.

Pre-Cleaning

Paddy passes through scalpers and aspirators to remove straw, dust, stones, and foreign matter. Magnets catch metallic contaminants.

Husking

Rubber roll husker removes the outer husk. Paddy separator recirculates unhusked grains. Output: brown rice with bran layer intact.

Milling

Abrasive whitener removes the bran layer in stages. Four milling grades available: Brown Rice, Reasonably Well Milled, Extra Well Milled, Silky Polished.

Polishing

Water polisher gives a silky, pearly finish for premium grades. Optional step based on buyer specification and destination market.

Color Sorting

TAI HO optical color sorter ejects discolored, chalky, and damaged grains. Ensures uniform appearance across the batch.

Grading

Indented cylinder grader separates broken kernels from whole grains. Sets the broken percentage: 0-2%, 5%, 10%, 15%, 25%, or 100% broken.

Packing

Weighed and packed in 5 kg, 10 kg, 25 kg, or 50 kg bags. PP woven, BOPP laminated, or custom private label packaging. Container stuffed at mill gate.

Paddy Sourcing

Paddy Sourcing: Direct from Growers, Traceable by Lot

Each mill processes paddy from its own growing region. Sindh crop goes to Badin. Punjab crop goes to Karachi.

Two Growing Regions, Two Mills

Sindh paddy (D98, IRRI-6, IRRI-9) goes to our Badin plant in the heart of the Sindh rice belt. Punjab paddy (1121, Super Kernel, PK386) goes to our Karachi facility. D98 grows in Sindh only. PK386 grows in Punjab only.

Farm-to-Mill Proximity

The Badin plant (Rajo Khanani, Talka Talhar) sits directly in Sindh's IRRI-6 growing region. Paddy moves from field to mill in hours, not days. Shorter transport means lower handling damage and fresher product at the mill gate.

Kharif Crop Cycle

May planting, October to December harvest. Peak processing runs November through February. See our full harvest calendar for seasonal availability by variety and region.

Direct from Farmer

Paddy is sourced directly from growers. Pricing is transparent to the farmer and traceable for the buyer. We do not use third-party middlemen between crop and mill.

Lot-Level Traceability

Every lot is tagged with origin region, harvest date, and mill batch. Traceability documentation is available on request for buyer audits and compliance reviews.

Pre-Processing Quality Checks

Moisture, grain length, chalk, and discolored kernel percentages are verified at intake. Paddy that fails intake specs is rejected before it enters the milling line.

Extra Well Milled

Thorough bran removal with a clean white appearance. Premium commercial grade for retail and food service buyers in GCC, Africa, and Europe.

MRL screening for pesticide residues. LC-MS/MS detection. Aflatoxin and heavy metal screening. Sampling is conducted by approved bodies including SGS, Bureau Veritas, Intertek, or Eurofins-approved equivalents.

The rice is reprocessed or replaced with a new lot. We do not ship rice that has failed inspection. Process repeats until the cargo meets buyer specification.

What is the daily processing capacity?

Is the mill SGS-audited?

What machinery does the mill use?

Our Badin plant uses Chinese-manufactured processing equipment including rubber roll husker, paddy separator, abrasive and friction whiteners, water polisher, indented cylinder grader, and a TAI HO optical color sorter. Independently surveyed by SGS Pakistan in January 2024.

How is paddy sourced?

Direct from farmers. Non-basmati paddy (IRRI-6, IRRI-9, PK386) is sourced from growers in Sindh and trucked to our Badin plant. Basmati paddy (1121, Super Kernel, D98) is sourced from Punjab and processed at our Karachi facility. Lot-level traceability with origin region, harvest date, and mill batch is available on request.

Can you process rice to a custom specification?

Yes. We process to your exact specification: variety, broken percentage (0% to 100%), moisture level (maximum 14%), milling degree, and polishing finish. Every order is processed fresh, not pulled from pre-milled stock.

Do you handle private label processing at the mill?

Yes. We offer complete private label services from 5 kg retail bags to 50 kg wholesale bags. Custom design, printing, nutritional panels, and barcode placement. MOQ: 15,000 bags for BOPP laminated, 5,000 bags for non-woven.

What moisture content do you guarantee?

Maximum 14% moisture. Tested at paddy intake, controlled during milling, and verified before packing.

What happens if pre-shipment inspection fails?

The rice is reprocessed or replaced with a new lot. We do not ship rice that has failed pre-shipment inspection. Our first-pass inspection rate is 99%.

Which destination markets is the mill registered for?

We are GACC-registered for exports to China. For other markets requiring destination certification, we coordinate SASO and SFDA (Saudi Arabia), KEBS and PVOC (Kenya), TBS and PVOC (Tanzania), EU MRL (Europe), and FDA and FSVP (USA) inspection as required.

Is the facility open for buyer visits and audits?

Yes. We welcome buyer visits to both our Badin plant and Karachi operations. Contact our export team to schedule a visit. We can arrange airport pickup and accommodation recommendations in Karachi.
