In a strategic move aimed at supporting citizens, the Prime Minister has made the decision to extend the relief package for utility stores. This comes after the successful conclusion of the Ramadan package, ensuring that consumers will continue to receive benefits.

As part of this initiative, subsidies will be maintained on five vital commodities: sugar, flour, ghee, pulses, and rice, with a specific focus on benefiting BISP beneficiaries. To assist BISP beneficiaries, sugar will be available at utility stores at a subsidized rate of 109 rupees per kilogram.

The Prime Minister’s relief package dedicates approximately 3 billion rupees each month towards subsidies, making essential items more affordable for the wider population. Flour, which is essential for daily consumption, will be accessible to BISP beneficiaries in 10-kilogram bags at a discounted price of 648 rupees.

Additionally, ghee, a staple in many households, has been priced at 393 rupees per kilogram for BISP beneficiaries. In addition to this, pulses and rice will receive subsidies of 25 rupees per kilogram, further alleviating the burden on consumers.

The commitment from utility stores to continue this beneficial package until June 2024 ensures stability and relief for households. The federal government will subsequently decide on further extending the package for the next fiscal year, demonstrating their dedication to supporting the welfare of citizens.

This extension of the relief package highlights the government’s proactive approach in addressing economic challenges and providing essential support to the public during these difficult times.
