Janjgir – Champa. This time rice will be purchased at the support price in Janjgir and Shakti district centers. If it rains during rice procurement, the ground becomes wet and the bags of rice get wet with rainwater. Two dozen centers have no sheds or platforms to keep bags from getting wet. These are centers where private land or market land has been purchased due to non-availability of government land.

Rice will be purchased at the support price from November 1 this year in the state. The district co-operative bank along with the district administration has started preparations for the purchase of paddy. Last year, paddy was purchased at support price through 239 purchase centers in the district. Last year 1 lakh 99 thousand farmers registered to sell rice grain. In this, 78 lakh quintals of rice were purchased from 1 lakh 80 thousand farmers. Two of the 239 centers have no shed facility or platform to protect the paddy from water. These centers are run on private land. Platforms and sheds have not yet been constructed in these centers due to non-availability of government land. Due to this, the bags of rice placed on the ground and under the sky in these centers get wet if it rains during the purchase of rice. Because of this, the committees have to suffer. Similarly there are many buying centers which have platforms but no sheds. Due to this, even the bags of rice kept here get wet when it rains. Polythene is purchased annually by spending crores of rupees to protect the rice bags from getting wet during the rains that fell during the purchase.

There is no chabutra in these centres
