Baisakhi Celebrations Commence at Kartarpur with Joyous Festivities

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Inaugurates ‘Baisakhi’ at Kartarpur Sharif

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz visited Zero Line Kartarpur Sharif in Kheti Sahib to officially inaugurate the ‘Baisakhi’ festival by harvesting the golden crop of wheat with a golden sickle. This significant event took place at Baba Guru Nanak’s field, and the chief minister expressed her happiness to be part of this honorable moment.

During her visit, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz received a warm welcome from Sikh women with folded hands at Pak Darshan Deodhi. Sikh youths performed traditional Gatka to showcase their cultural heritage.

In addition to this, the chief minister also took the time to visit the Sarovar, Samadhi, Guru Ghar, and had darshan of Sangat. She was briefed about the facilitation center and appreciated the efforts made to provide a smooth experience for the pilgrims.

“Today we are celebrating Baisakhi festival for the first time at the official level. The doors of Pakistan are open to Sikh men and women from all over the world. Sikh pilgrims come to Pakistan and perform religious rituals at holy places with complete freedom. Sikh pilgrims will be provided complete security, travel, and the best residential facilities in Pakistan,” said Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

Appreciation from the Indian Sikh Jatha Leader

The Indian Sikh Jatha leader expressed his appreciation for the chief minister’s initiatives and arrangements. He thanked her for her love and care and stated, “We are all proud to see the daughter of Punjab become the chief minister.”

The President of the Delhi Goroband Committee, Raminder Singh Bumrah, draped a Sarupa (shawl) on Maryam Nawaz as a sign of respect. Diljit Singh Sarnan presented her with a Kirpan and other gifts. Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb was also presented with a Sarupa (shawl) and gifts.

Exploring Sikh Art and Sharing a Meal

During her visit, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also took the time to visit the Sikh Art Gallery. She then participated in Langar, where she ate food with the pilgrims at the Langar Hall. The menu included boiled rice, curry pakoras, groundnut daal, sweet rice, roti, and pickles.

The presence of Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, ministers Ramesh Singh Arora, Bilal Akbar, Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani, MNA Anwarul Haq, MPA Wasim Butt, Rana Manan, the secretaries of tourism and agriculture departments, the commissioner, and other officials added to the significance of the occasion.
