KARACHI: Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (REAP) assures that there is no ban on Pakistani rice imports from Russia. Chela Ram Kewlani, Chairman of REAP, and Haseeb Ali Khan, Senior Vice Chairman of REAP, have thoroughly investigated the issue and confirmed that all protocols for rice exports to Russia have been followed.

The exporters ensured that there is no chance of infestation in the rice shipments, as all necessary measures have been taken during the Russian consignment. Despite a minor issue caused by the long transit time, the exporters have addressed all concerns and fulfilled all requirements.

It is important to note that during this time, shipments from Pakistan were avoiding the Red Sea channel and opting for a longer alternate shipping route. This route resulted in the goods taking almost two months to reach the destination. The shipment was sent from Pakistan on January 10, 2024, and arrived on March 15, 2024.

REAP office bearers have also confirmed that trade with Russia is ongoing smoothly, and there have been no reports of a ban from Russian authorities. However, Russia has warned Pakistan about potential rice import bans if phytosanitary concerns are not adequately addressed.

Rice exporters play a crucial role in Pakistan’s economy, and it is essential to maintain trade relationships with countries like Russia. To learn more about rice exporters and suppliers, you can visit websites such as hasrice.com and pakistanrice.com.
