vietnam achieves all-time high in rice exports from January to November 2021
Vietnam’s Rice Exports Reach Record High in 11 Months of 2023
Vietnam has achieved remarkable success in rice exports, with the first 11 months of 2023 witnessing record-breaking numbers. According to a report by the Vietnam News Agency, the country exported nearly 7.8 million tons of rice, generating a turnover of 4.4 billion U.S. dollars from January to November, marking the highest level since 1989.
Experts predict that Vietnam’s rice exports will continue to soar, projecting a total of 8 million tons and a value of 4.6 billion dollars for the year 2023. This anticipation surpasses the target of 7 million tons, which was initially set at the beginning of this year.
The recent surge in Vietnamese export rice prices has also contributed to this success. Vietnamese rice has become increasingly expensive, with recent reports indicating a new record price. The Vietnam Food Association reveals that Vietnamese rice was being sold at 663 dollars per ton in the last two weeks. This price surpassed Thai rice, which was priced at 632 dollars per ton, as well as Pakistani rice at 600 dollars per ton.
Chookiat Ophaswongse, honorary president of the Thai Rice Exporters Association, expressed his admiration for Vietnamese rice, stating that despite the higher prices, it is highly favored by importers due to its exceptional quality and freshness. Vietnamese rice products are immediately exported after being harvested, ensuring maximum quality.
Moreover, Vietnamese rice has received international recognition for its superior quality. Vietnam’s Ong Cua ST25 rice recently earned the first prize at the World’s Best Rice 2023 competition, further reinforcing the reputation of Vietnamese rice in the global market.
In summary, Vietnam’s rice exports have achieved remarkable growth in the first 11 months of 2023, surpassing previous records and exceeding initial targets. The rise in prices, combined with the country’s commitment to delivering top-quality rice, has reinforced Vietnam’s position as a leading player in the global rice market.
