Vietnam Achieves Record High in Rice Exports as Demand Soars
In a remarkable achievement, Vietnam has reached an unprecedented milestone in its rice export industry. According to a report by Vietnam News Agency, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has announced that the country’s rice export volume and prices in 2023 have hit an all-time high. With a staggering export volume of 8.3 million tons, Vietnam generated a revenue of 4.78 billion U.S. Dollars.
This impressive growth can be attributed to the high demand for Vietnamese rice, which has resulted in an average export price of 663 dollars per ton. The ministry highlighted that the increased farming areas and productivity in Vietnam led to a 1.9 percent rise in total rice output to reach 43.5 million tons. This increase not only met domestic demand but also fulfilled the needs of the global market.
Looking ahead to 2024, rice exporters anticipate a surge in demand for Vietnamese rice, particularly from countries like the Philippines and China. As the global supply of rice remains limited, the demand for Vietnam’s high-quality rice is expected to continue rising. To meet this growing demand, Vietnam has set a target to produce 43-43.5 million tons of rice in 2024.
With this optimistic outlook, Vietnam’s rice exports are predicted to bring in a whopping 5.3 billion dollars this year, as reported by local media.
