Pakistan excluded from list of dangerous countries, confirm UK authorities
British High Commission officials have clarified that Pakistan has not been added to the list of dangerous countries by the UK government, contrary to media reports. In an update by the Foreign and Commonwealth Development Office (FCDO), eight additional destinations, including Israel and Gaza, have been deemed ‘too dangerous’ for UK citizens to visit. However, Pakistan’s travel advisory status remains unchanged since January 24, according to the UK government’s website.
Certain media reports and local websites inaccurately claimed that Pakistan was on a ‘black list’ or ‘red list’, but officials have confirmed that these lists do not exist, and each country has its own travel advice. The FCDO has similar travel advisories for both India and Pakistan, advising against all travel within 10 miles of the Pakistan-Afghanistan border and the Line of Control. The advisory for Pakistan also warns against travel to the KP and Balochistan areas, including specific regions.
The recent additions to the ‘too dangerous’ list for UK citizens include Ukraine, Iran, Sudan, Lebanon, Israel, Belarus, and the Palestinian territories. These countries join Afghanistan, Syria, and Yemen as high-risk destinations. The expansion of this list highlights the ongoing volatility and threats in these regions. The FCDO urges British nationals to avoid non-essential travel to these destinations for their own safety.
The FCDO regularly provides travel advice for UK citizens to consider before planning trips to other countries.
