UAE and Pakistan Collaborate to Boost Agricultural Innovation in Date Palm Cultivation
Abu Dhabi: UAE and Pakistan have signed a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing agricultural innovation and research related to the development and promotion of date palm cultivation and the related industry. The signing ceremony, witnessed by Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence of the UAE, took place in Abu Dhabi on Monday.
The MoU, signed by Pakistan’s Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi and Dr Abdelouahhab Zaid, General Secretary of the Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation, will facilitate joint cooperation and the sharing of expertise between the two nations. Moreover, it will provide Pakistani farmers with an opportunity to expand date palm cultivation through the implementation of innovative ideas.
As one of the pioneers in this field, the UAE will extend technological support to Pakistan to enhance date palm cultivation. Pakistan’s rich topography presents immense potential for the growth of this sector. In line with the MoU, the First Pakistan International Date Palm Festival 2024 will also be organized.
The UAE and Pakistan share a fraternal relationship and are involved in numerous mutually beneficial collaborative projects across various sectors, including politics, economics, agriculture, culture, energy, and defense.
