Sindh Police Prepares Election Security Arrangements with 625.4 Million Budget
In preparation for the upcoming general elections in Sindh, the Sindh Police has informed the election commission about their election security arrangements. According to a report from a private TV channel, the police have allocated a budget of over 625.4 million for this purpose.
The police have recommended the deployment of 1,22,000 personnel to ensure the security of the elections in Sindh. However, they currently have only 1,05,000 policemen available, which is 17,000 less than the required number of personnel, as per police sources.
To facilitate the voting process, a total of 19,000 four polling stations will be set up in Sindh. Of these, 6,457 will be classified as extremely sensitive, while 6,593 will be considered sensitive polling stations.
As for the security personnel required at each polling station, the police department has outlined the following numbers: four policemen, six sensitive personnel, and eight susceptible police officials.
Apart from personnel, the police department has also detailed other budgetary requirements in its requisition shared with the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). This includes over Rs212.8 million for food, as well as additional funding for additional force, vehicles, machinery repair, and stationery.
It is important to note that the general elections are scheduled to be held next month on February 08. In these elections, public representatives for the National Assembly and legislatures for Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces will be elected.
