Utility Stores Corporation’s PM Ramzan Relief Package 2024 Begins on March 5th, Continues till Chand Raat
Once again, the Prime Minister of Pakistan has announced a subsidy of PKR 7.5 Billion for this Ramzan, just like the previous year in 2023. This subsidy will be delivered to the people of Pakistan through the network of Utility Stores Corporation. Under this package, 19 basic items of daily use including atta, ghee, edible oil, sugar, daalchana, chickpeas, baisan, dates, rice, tea, spices, milk, and mashroobat will be provided at subsidized rates. The federal government has taken this initiative to ensure that the people can conveniently access these essential food items during Ramzan.
In order to make the process even more efficient, Utility Stores Corporation of Pakistan will be delivering food items as per PMT-40 instead of PMT-60. This means that the delivery will be faster and more convenient for the people. This time, the subsidy will specifically benefit pro-poor and average families who are registered under BISP. It is estimated that around 20 billion people will be able to take advantage of this subsidy due to the PMT-60 criterion.
Thanks to the subsidy provided by the Federal Government, the prices of certain items will be significantly reduced. For example, atta of 10KG will be available at Rs. 648, ghee per KG at Rs. 365, sugar per KG at Rs. 109, and there will be a special subsidy of Rs. 25 on edible oil per liter, Rs. 25 on daalchana per kg, Rs. 25 on chickpeas (white), Rs. 50 on Baisan per kg, Rs. 50 on dates per kg, Rs. 25 on Basmati rice per kg, Rs. 25 on Silla rice per kg, Rs. 25 on Tota rice per kg, Rs. 100 on 800gm tea, and Rs. 30 on tetra pack milk. Additionally, spices and mashroobat will also be available at subsidized rates. This initiative truly aims to provide relief to the common man and improve their overall well-being.
The current government’s priority is to ensure that registered BISP people receive their entitled share. This includes providing 20 KGatta, 5Kg Ghee, 5Kg sugar, and 3Kg rice to those who are registered under the PMT-60 program. There is no limit to the purchase of other items, so people can buy as much as they need.
For those who are not registered under the BISP program, it is advised to immediately contact the regional BISP office or visit a Utility Stores outlet with a BISP registration counter to check their eligibility.
In addition to the BISP registered consumers, the Utility Stores Corporation has also made arrangements to provide special subsidies on everyday items for the general public. This has been made possible with the cooperation of vendors and suppliers.
To ensure transparency and accountability, a monitoring cell has been established at the head office of Utility Stores Corporation. This cell will address any issues that people may have during the implementation of the subsidy package. Multiple vigilance teams will be monitoring the process across Pakistan to ensure that the benefits of the Ramzan package reach the common man. The management and workers of Utility Stores Corporation of Pakistan are dedicated to serving the people to the best of their abilities.
