PM Shehbaz Sharif Inspects Execution of Ramazan Relief Package
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif made surprise visits to various Utility Stores in Islamabad on Wednesday to oversee the implementation of the Prime Minister’s Ramazan Relief Package. During his visit, he interacted with the beneficiaries of the scheme and inquired about any difficulties they faced while availing the benefits.
PM Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the importance of ensuring a smooth and hassle-free experience for all entitled beneficiaries of the relief package. He instructed the authorities to address any issues promptly and make sure that those eligible to benefit from the package faced no problems.
Promoting Affordability and Accessibility
Speaking about the Ramazan Relief Package, the Prime Minister announced that the government had allocated a historic budget of 12 billion rupees. This initiative aims to provide subsidized essential food items to deserving families throughout the holy month of Ramazan at Utility Stores outlets across Pakistan.
Under this package, beneficiaries will receive a subsidy of Rs77 per kg on wheat flour and Rs100 per kg on ghee, along with a 20-30 percent subsidy on other food items such as pulses, rice, and sugar. Additionally, families registered in the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) will also receive an additional stipend as part of the package.
Expanding Support and Welfare
PM Shehbaz Sharif further highlighted that the Ramazan Relief Package extends its benefits to BISP beneficiaries. Each registered family will receive an extra stipend of 10,000 rupees. Additionally, through the Kafalat program, thousands of families in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Gilgit Baltistan (GB), and Balochistan will each receive an additional amount of 2000 rupees.
The Prime Minister expressed his commitment to ensuring the availability and quality of food goods at utility stores. Multiple teams have been appointed to conduct surprise visits and monitor the situation closely. Strict actions will be taken against anyone found to be involved in selling low-quality items at these stores.
During his visit, PM Shehbaz Sharif expressed satisfaction with the ample supply of subsidized items at the utility stores, confirming that the relief package is effectively benefiting the intended recipients.
