Food items delivered to 1,200 households in Pindi during trial run
RAWALPINDI: Punjab government’s Nighaban Ramazan package, which provides free food bags to deserving households, was implemented on a trial basis in Rawalpindi division. The program is set to officially launch on the second day of Ramazan in all districts, providing dry rations to registered households by March 15.
Deputy Commissioner Dr. Hassan Waqar Cheema announced that the distribution of food items had commenced in Rawalpindi district. The ration bag includes 10kg of flour, as well as 2kg each of rice, sugar, ghee, and gram flour. To ensure a smooth process for the deserving people, assistants commissioners are overseeing the distribution of Ramazan ration packages in each tehsil. This time, the district administration will personally deliver the food items to the doorstep of eligible households, eliminating the need for remote travel and long queues.
Dr. Cheema assured that the essential items in the packages would be of good quality and quantity, and they would be distributed in a timely manner. Commissioner Aamir Khattak instructed the deputy commissioners to carefully verify the lists of beneficiaries for the Nighaban Ration Programme. In addition to verifying addresses, it should be ensured that the households at those addresses were still eligible for the package. Separate lists should be prepared for families who were no longer underprivileged and therefore not eligible.
Commissioner Khattak emphasized the need for foolproof security during the transportation of the rations and instructed that there should be no interruptions in the supply operation. He also urged the authorities to continue the packing and distribution process day and night to ensure that the deserving households receive their rations in a timely manner.
