Punjab Cabinet Approves Ramazan Nigehban Package to Support Citizens During Ramadan
LAHORE: In an effort to provide relief to the inflation-affected masses during the holy month of Ramadan, the Punjab cabinet approved the Ramazan Nigehban Package on Thursday.
Chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the maiden cabinet meeting focused on ensuring the quality of items distributed under the Ramazan Nigehban Package.
The Ramazan Nigehban Package aims to assist approximately 6.5 million deserving families at their doorsteps during the holy month. CM Maryam emphasized that all 6.5 million bags distributed will have QR scan codes on them.
The contents of the Ramazan Package include 10kg of flour, 2kg of ghee, 2kg of sugar, and 2kg of rice. To ensure quality, the Punjab Food Authority and the district administration have been given the responsibility of monitoring the rice, flour, gram flour, ghee, and rice in the package.
To ensure smooth distribution, the Punjab CM has instructed the Urban Unit and Special Branch teams to conduct field surveys. Additionally, a special commission will be overseeing the distribution of the bags to deserving families.
In a bid to combat profiteering during the holy month of Ramadan, Maryam Nawaz has also directed the authorities to closely monitor the prices of essential commodities. Furthermore, the establishment of Sasta Bazars across Punjab at the district level has been approved.
