Punjab Government Launches Kisan Card to Boost Agricultural Growth and Support Farmers
LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz took the initiative on Tuesday to launch the registration process for the Kisan Card, a project that aims to uplift the agriculture sector and improve the socio-economic conditions of farmers in the province.
A spokesperson for the provincial government stated that the Kisan Card is designed to ensure the prosperity of farmers in Punjab.
Easy Registration Process for the Kisan Card
To register for the Kisan Card, farmers are required to first register their land at the Land Record Center. In addition, their mobile SIM must be registered with their ID card number, which will be verified using NADRA records. Farmers can apply for registration by typing “PKC” followed by their ID card number and sending it to the code “8070” on their mobile phones.
The Kisan Card Offers Advantageous Loans
The Kisan Card will provide loans of up to Rs12 lakh to farmers with land holdings of up to 12.5 acres. These interest-free loans will be repayable in easy installments over a period of six months. The government has also announced its commitment to providing production loans worth Rs300 billion annually to farmers through the Kisan Card, enabling them to purchase fertilizers, seeds, and other agricultural inputs.
Benefits of the Kisan Card for Punjab Farmers
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz emphasized that the Kisan Card will benefit 5 lakh farmers in Punjab and contribute significantly to the agricultural growth of the province. The project aims to provide farmers with easy access to agricultural inputs and support their livelihoods.
A Comprehensive Effort for Agricultural Development
The Kisan Card is part of a broader effort by the Punjab government to improve the agricultural sector and enhance the socio-economic conditions of farmers. Additionally, the government has approved the establishment of Model Agriculture Centers and a state-of-the-art center of excellence for research and development on cotton, wheat, and rice crops.
