Verification of Family Data for Food Bags
GUJRAT: In order to ensure the efficient distribution of dry food items to families registered with the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), the land revenue field staff and local bodies employees are currently verifying the data. This verification process is being carried out as part of the Nigehban Ramzan programme initiated by the Punjab government.
According to official sources, the Punjab government has provided the data of 97,021 families who will receive food bags directly at their doorstep once the verification process is completed. Currently, the verification process is underway for 54,946 families in Gujrat tehsil, 30,995 families in Kharian, and 11,050 families in Sara-i-Alamgir tehsils. The verification is being conducted by patwaris, secretaries of union councils, and other government officials.
To oversee the verification process and distribution of food bags, Gujrat Deputy Commissioner Safdar Virk chaired a meeting with departmental heads. He instructed the assistant commissioners from all three tehsils to monitor the verification process and distribution of food bags. Each food bag will contain 10 kg of flour, as well as 2 kg each of sugar, rice, ghee, and besan (a type of flour).
The distribution of food bags is scheduled to take place between March 5 and 15.
Additionally, the Deputy Commissioner announced that the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) has developed an app to record the daily distribution of food bags, ensuring transparency. Furthermore, a third-party audit of the distribution process will also be conducted.
This initiative by the Punjab government aims to provide essential food items to deserving families during the holy month of Ramzan.
