In a recent raid on a flour mill in Rawalpindi, the Punjab Food Department has taken action against low-quality rice. During the operation, the department lodged an FIR and destroyed 1,500 kilograms of poor-quality rice.

The raid was conducted by a team from the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on the instructions of DG PFA. The team inspected a flour mill in the Baga Mor area and made several discoveries. In addition to 7,280 kilograms of maize and 600 kilograms of substandard flour, they also seized 1,500 kilograms of low-quality rice. To ensure that the rice was disposed of properly, it was smashed on the spot.

DG PFA Asim Javed expressed concern over the discovery of poor-quality flour being mixed with basin. Samples of the questionable food items have been sent to a food laboratory for further analysis. As a result, the production of the low-quality food item has been halted until the factory management can guarantee improvement in their processes.

In addition to this operation, the government is conducting a larger crackdown on markets to monitor food prices during the holy month of Ramadan. Providing hygienic and safe food to the people is a top priority for the government, and they are committed to not compromising on the quality of food products.
