Farmers urged to commence rice cultivation from May 20
The agricultural experts have provided valuable advice to farmers regarding the cultivation of rice crops for a bumper yield. It is recommended to prepare the lands and begin the cultivation process from May 20.
Timing plays a crucial role in the cultivation of different rice crop varieties. For ARI-6, KS-282, KSK-133, and NIAB ARI-9, the best time falls between May 25 and June 07. Super Basmati, on the other hand, can be cultivated from May 25 to June 20.
Moving on to Basmati varieties, Basmati-370, Basmati-385, Basmati Pak, Basmati-2000, and Basmati-515 should be cultivated from June 01 to 20. In the areas of Sahiwal and Okara, Basmati-198 can be cultivated from June 01 to June 15. Lastly, Shaheen Basmati is suitable for cultivation from June 15 to 30.
It is crucial for growers to use approved varieties of rice for cultivation. These varieties not only provide disease resistance but also guarantee maximum yield. The approved varieties include Super Basmati, Shaheen Basmati, Basmati-370, Basmati-385, Basmati Pak, Basmati-2000, Basmati-515, ARI-6, KS-282, KSK-133, NIAB ARI-9, and Basmati-198.
To achieve better and higher production, it is advised to start rice cultivation from May 20 and complete it before June 30. Additionally, saplings of Basmati-370, Basmati-385, Basmati Pak, Basmati-2000, and Basmati-515 should be transferred to the fields by June 20. Saheen Basmati, on the other hand, can be cultivated until June 30.
