Shipping activity in Port Qasim: Boosting Trade and Navigation
Shipping Activity at Port: APL Qingdao, OBE Dinares, AgiosPorfyrios, Ensemble and Ullswater Docked
The Port of Karachi has reported significant shipping activity in the last 24 hours. Five ships, namely APL Qingdao, OBE Dinares, AgiosPorfyrios, Ensemble, and Ullswater, were scheduled to load and offload a variety of goods including containers, rice, soya bean seed, chemicals, and LPG. These ships berthed at different terminals including the Container Terminal, Multi-Purpose Terminal, Grain Terminal, Engro Terminal, and Sui Southern Terminal.
In addition to these ships, five more vessels, Maersk Nyassa, Big Breezy, Stellar Rioni, Sakizaya Star, and Epic Burano, arrived at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the same period. These ships have arrived to load and unload containers, rice, canola seed, and LPG.
During the last 24 hours, a total of eight ships were engaged at the Port Qasim berths. One of the container ships, APL Qingdao, left the port this morning, while two more ships, Big Breezy and New Asoura, are expected to sail this afternoon.
The cargo volume handled at the port during this period reached 100,690 tonnes. This includes 22,986 tonnes of import cargo and 77,704 tonnes of export cargo. A total of 2,650 containers (902 TEUs of imports and 1,748 TEUs of exports) were handled during this time.
At present, there are 12 ships at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. Three of these ships, Kouros Queen, TCLC Luzhou, and Big Breezy, are scheduled to load and unload rice, coal, containers, palm oil, and LNG, and will take berths at WM-2, PQEPT, QICT, LCT, and PGPCL respectively on December 15th. Additionally, two more container ships, APL Phoenix and Olympia, are due to arrive at Port Qasim on December 16th, 2023.
This bustling shipping activity highlights the significance of the Port of Karachi as a vital hub for trade and commerce in the region.
