University of Punjab Department of Plant Pathology Holds Inaugural Research Advisory Board Meeting
First Meeting of the Research Advisory Board (RAB) of the Department of Plant Pathology, University of the Punjab
The Department of Plant Pathology at the University of the Punjab recently held its first meeting of the Research Advisory Board (RAB) on February 20, 2024. Chaired by Prof. Dr. Tehmina Anjum, the meeting aimed to bridge the gap between academia, industry, and the government sector. Prominent individuals from various organizations and institutions were in attendance, including Dr. Ghulam Abbas from PW&QCP, Mr. Rashid Ahmad from CropLife Pakistan, and Dr. Ahmad Saleem Akhtar from Tara Group, among others.
The Vice Chancellor of the University of the Punjab, Prof. Dr. Khalid Mehmood, also joined the forum and commended the Department of Plant Pathology for providing a platform to promote discussion on agricultural research. He emphasized the importance of collaboration between academia and the industry, stating that such partnerships are essential for the advancement of the agricultural sector, which serves as the backbone of the country’s economy.
During the meeting, participants shared valuable suggestions and emphasized the need for the commercialization of research carried out in universities. They highlighted the potential of research findings to contribute to the growth and development of the agriculture sector.
