Pakistan’s Embassy in Türkiye Organizes Cultural Festival Honoring Delicious Pakistani Cuisine

The Pakistan Cultural and Cuisine Festival, held at the Embassy lawn, was a delightful showcase of the exquisite Pakistani Basmati rice. The festival aimed to strengthen the culinary bonds between Pakistan and Türkiye, and to share the exceptional quality and rich heritage of Pakistani cuisine with Turkish brothers.

The festival was graced by the presence of former Turkish Minister for Agriculture Dr. Mehmet Mehdi Eker, Mayor of Ankara Mr. Mansur Yavaş, Member of Parliament Mr. Burhan Kayaturk, as well as diplomats, culinary experts, food enthusiasts, business people, and media.

Ambassador Dr. Yousaf Junaid, in his welcome address, emphasized the goal of strengthening the culinary ties between Pakistan and Türkiye. He also highlighted the significance of promoting culinary excellence and showcasing the exceptional quality and rich heritage of Pakistani cuisine.

During the festival, the talented Chef Ali Hassan from Pakistan and Chef Yunus Coskun from Türkiye mesmerized the audience with their culinary skills. They presented a variety of traditional and innovative recipes that incorporated both Pakistani and Türkish ingredients. The chefs also shared interesting insights into the culinary techniques and secrets behind some of the most beloved dishes from Pakistan and Turkiye.

The highlight of the festival was the tasting stations, where the guests were treated to a variety of rice-based dishes from Pakistan and Türkiye. The menu included mouthwatering dishes such as biryani, chicken pulao, zarda (sweet rice), kheer (rice pudding), egg fried rice, vegetable rice, dolma, sarma, icli pilav, etli nohutlu pilav (rice dish with meat and chickpeas), pirinc salatasi (rice salad), and tavuklu nohutlu pilav (rice dish with chicken and chickpeas). These dishes combined the distinctive long grains, delicate texture, and aromatic taste of Pakistani basmati rice with the flavors of Turkish ingredients, creating a unique and delightful culinary fusion.
