3 Terrorists Killed in Security Operation in Balochistan
In a successful intelligence-based operation (IBO) conducted by Pakistani security forces, three terrorists were killed in Balochistan’s Pishir district. The operation, which took place on Tuesday night, targeted the reported presence of terrorists in the area. One terrorist, identified as an Afghan national, was apprehended in injured condition. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported that a large cache of arms, ammunition, and explosives was also recovered during the operation.
Earlier, two alleged terrorists were killed and several others were injured in a gun battle with security forces in the same district. The local administration received information about the presence of terrorists in the Sanzalai mountain range of Pishin, following which the operation was planned. The Frontier Corps (North) officials claimed that the terrorists had crossed into Pishin from Afghanistan and had established their pickets on top of the hills.
Pakistan has seen a rise in terror activities, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, after the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan ended its ceasefire with the government in November 2022. According to a security report by the Centre for Research and Security Studies, Pakistan witnessed a record high of 1,524 violence-related fatalities and 1,463 injuries from 789 terror attacks and counter-terror operations in 2023. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan were the primary centers of violence, accounting for over 90% of all fatalities and 84% of attacks.
