Pakistan’s rice exports have experienced a remarkable growth of 95.26% during the first seven months of the current financial year, which is a significant increase compared to the same period last year.

According to the data provided by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, from July to January 2023-24, Pakistan exported over 3.323 million metric tonnes of rice, amounting to $2.115 billion. In comparison, during the same period last year, the country exported 1.982 million tonnes of rice valued at $1.083 billion.

Amongst the types of rice exported, Basmati rice saw a growth of 35.59%. A total of 398,764 metric tonnes of Basmati rice, valued at $456.950 million, were exported during this period. This is a substantial increase compared to the 320,751 metric tonnes worth $337.008 million exported in the previous year.

It should be noted that the exports of non-Basmati rice also witnessed a significant surge during this period. Over 2.924 million metric tonnes of non-Basmati rice, valued at $1.658 billion, were exported. This is in comparison to the 1.661 million metric tonnes worth $746.434 million exported during the same period last year.
