Alvi praises COAS and caretakers for investment efforts
President Dr Arif Alvi praised the efforts of the caretaker federal government and Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir for their role in attracting foreign investment and strengthening Pakistan’s economy. During the 15th Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (REAP) Recognition Ceremony, President Alvi commended the business community for their potential in fortifying the economy and emphasized the untapped potential of the nation. He congratulated REAP on increasing exports from $300 million to $3 billion and encouraged members to explore joint-ventures and develop value-added rice products. President Alvi also proposed establishing market-oriented institutions through collaboration between the government and REAP, empowering women through employment, and providing quality education to prepare the younger generation. The Sindh Governor Mohammed Kamran Khan Tessori recognized rice as the second-largest export of the country and praised the efforts to combat economic and border terrorism, resulting in the decrease in the value of the US dollar. He expressed optimism about the enhancement of law and order in the country and urged support for the Palestinians amidst ongoing brutality in Gaza. REAP Chairman Chela Ram Kewlani highlighted the association’s role in the country’s economy and the international recognition of Pakistani rice as a high-quality brand. Kewlani called for the official designation of rice as an industry, expressed concerns about the Minimum Export Price (MEP) of rice hindering exports, and emphasized the need for a Rice Research institution to boost export opportunities. President Alvi and Governor Tessori presented awards to honor the top rice exporters.
