Matco Foods Limited, a leading rice exporter in Pakistan, has recently commenced operations at its new plant dedicated to producing dextrose monohydrate, a type of corn sugar commonly used in the food and beverage industry.
Situated in the Super Highway Industrial Area in Karachi, the plant is situated on land owned by the company and boasts an impressive yearly capacity of 4,000 metric tons.
In a filing to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Monday, Matco Foods revealed that the plant had been completed within a span of 14 months and had undergone thorough testing and inspection before being commissioned. The project has not only generated new employment opportunities but has also presented significant economic prospects for the country, earning invaluable foreign exchange through exports.
Dextrose monohydrate, being a natural monosaccharide and carbohydrate, serves as a sweetener, thickener, and bulking agent in various products. Matco Foods, primarily engaged in rice processing and export, specializes in producing and exporting a wide range of products including rice protein, rice glucose, pink salt, condiments and spices, and dessert mixes. With the brand name “Falak,” these products are exported to more than 65 countries.
