Export of Pakistani Food Items Expected to Exceed $7 Billion by 2023-24

The export of Pakistani food items is set to exceed the $7 billion mark by the end of the fiscal year 2023-24, according to Muhammad Zubair Motiwala, Chief Executive of Trade and Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP). This represents a significant increase from the previous annual exports of about $4 billion in this sector.

Speaking at the Pakistan Pavilion at the Gulf Food Exhibition in Dubai, Mr. Motiwala highlighted the efforts of TDAP in enhancing the export of Pakistani food and food items. These efforts have resulted in a substantial increase in the country’s exports in this sector, contributing to economic prosperity.

The ongoing Gulf Food festival has seen the participation of 100 Pakistani exhibitors, with 45 being sponsored by TDAP and others participating on a self-sponsorship basis.

Mr. Motiwala also shared some noteworthy statistics, stating, “This year, we have witnessed a remarkable increase of 300 to 400 percent in the exports of sesame seeds. Additionally, the exports of Pakistani rice are expected to surpass $3 billion compared to the previous figure of about $1.5 billion.”
