Finance Minister Optimistic about PIA Privatization as Pakistan’s Economy Recovers
ISLAMABAD – Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb expressed confidence that the privatization of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is making progress in the right direction. Upon assuming his office, Aurangzeb emphasized the importance of dedicated efforts for the recovery of the country’s economy.
Aurangzeb stated, “There is no quick fix for achieving macroeconomic stability. However, Pakistan’s IT exports are expected to reach $3.5 billion, indicating positive growth.”
The finance minister highlighted the need to address the energy sector-related issues in order for industries to thrive. He also emphasized the importance of reducing government expenses.
Promising Cash Crops: Rice Exports Contribute $2 Billion to Islamabad
Commenting on Pakistan’s cash crops, Minister Aurangzeb revealed that the country earned $2 billion from rice exports. He also mentioned that efforts would be made to enhance the confidence in the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) by digitalizing its operations.
In addition, Aurangzeb expressed optimism about a decrease in the interest rate in the near future, which would have a positive impact on the economy.
