Exports to China increase by 70%, reaching $368 million
Pakistan’s Exports to China Experience 70% Surge in October
In October this year, Pakistan’s exports to China reached an impressive $368 million, marking a significant 70% increase compared to the same month last year. This surge in exports was revealed by Commercial Counsellor Ghulam Qadir at the Pakistan Embassy in Beijing. The boost in exports can be attributed to key products such as sesame, seafood, rice, and other agricultural items.
The remarkable export figures can largely be attributed to the active participation of over 200 Chinese businessmen in the Food and Agri Expo held in Karachi earlier this year. Qadir emphasized the importance of continuing efforts to foster positive results and mentioned, “We arranged many meetings between Chinese businessmen and Pakistani traders, and we must continue to work on it to see more positive results.”
Looking ahead, Qadir highlighted plans to expand meat exports to the Chinese market. Efforts are also underway to enhance value addition in dairy products, chillies, cherries, and sesame seeds. Qadir stated, “We want to convert sesame seed into sesame oil and by-products, and work is underway in this regard.” Furthermore, he expressed hopes for increased participation of Pakistani players in China through e-commerce and other platforms, particularly in textiles, footwear, toys, agriculture, electronics, light engineering, and consumer products.
These positive developments reflect the strong trade relationship between Pakistan and China, opening up new opportunities for Pakistani exporters to tap into the Chinese market and further boost the country’s economy.
