Azerbaijan Expresses Interest in Strengthening Trade Relations with Pakistan

The ambassador of Pakistan to Azerbaijan, Bilal Hayee, recently visited the regional office of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) in Lahore. During the visit, Hayee expressed Azerbaijan’s eagerness to enhance bilateral trade and economic cooperation with Pakistan in various sectors.

One notable development highlighted by Hayee is Azerbaijan’s decision to abolish duty on imported rice from Pakistan. This is significant as Pakistan is a major market for rice exporters, making it an attractive opportunity for the country’s rice suppliers. In addition to the rice industry, Hayee also emphasized the high demand for Pakistani pharmaceutical products in Azerbaijan, encouraging exporters to focus on this sector as well.

Identifying potential areas of collaboration between Pakistan and Azerbaijan, Hayee mentioned agriculture, industry, tourism, mining, and hospitality. These sectors present great opportunities for both countries to strengthen their economic ties. It is worth noting that Pakistan and Azerbaijan already enjoy excellent political relations, which can further facilitate bilateral trade and cooperation.

During the visit, FPCCI President Irfan Iqbal Sheikh engaged in discussions with the ambassador on enhancing cooperation in various areas, including trade, investment, technology, and the exchange of business delegations. Sheikh emphasized the importance of creating business-to-business and people-to-people linkages, as well as organizing joint activities, which will ultimately lead to increased bilateral trade and economic cooperation between the two nations.

In conclusion, Azerbaijan’s expressed interest in expanding trade relations with Pakistan opens up new opportunities for various industries, including rice exporters, pharmaceutical products, and other sectors such as agriculture, industry, tourism, mining, and hospitality. With both countries already enjoying strong political ties, it is anticipated that these efforts will further strengthen their economic partnership and mutual benefits.
