National Cooperative Exports Ltd (NCEL) has received permission to export a substantial amount of broken rice and wheat products to multiple countries. The government has allowed the export of 34,736 tonnes of wheat and wheat products, along with 898,804 tonnes of broken rice, as stated in a recent gazette notification.
Specifically, NCEL has been granted approval to export 15,226 tonnes of maida/semolina, 14,184 tonnes of wheat grain, 5,326 tonnes of wheat flour, and 48,804 tonnes of broken rice to Bhutan. This export arrangement will take place throughout the year.
Additionally, NCEL has been permitted to export 500,000 tonnes of broken rice to Senegal and 50,000 tonnes to Gambia over a period of six months. Furthermore, NCEL has the green light to export approximately 200,000 tonnes of broken rice to Indonesia and 100,000 tonnes to Mali.
It is worth mentioning that India has imposed a ban on wheat and broken rice exports since the previous year as a means of avoiding domestic inflation. Nevertheless, certain exports are allowed on a government-to-government basis.
