BACHOK: The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (KPKM) is ready to audit license holders involved in various aspects of the rice and padi industry to tackle cartel-related issues. With approximately 39,000 individuals involved in this industry, the ministry aims to ensure fair practices and compliance with regulations.

Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu, the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, personally conducted surprise visits to assess the state of rice and food consumption in the country. The ministry is committed to collective action and will not tolerate any violations of the law. In such cases, the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) will take appropriate measures, similar to what the KPKM is doing.

During a visit to a cattle breeding and farming center in Kampung Seneng Jelawat, Mohamad emphasized the importance of addressing cartel-related issues. The National Rice and Padi Control Agency (KSPBN) conducts investigations in collaboration with the KPDN, taking necessary action based on concrete facts. The ministry refrains from publicizing individual cases and focuses on resolving the issues at hand. Currently, there are ongoing cases at the prosecution stage.

By conducting audits and working closely with relevant authorities, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security aims to promote fairness and transparency in the rice and padi industry. These efforts will contribute to the overall stability and growth of the sector.
