Iran Expresses Interest in Increasing Agricultural Imports from Pakistan
In a move to strengthen trade relations between Iran and Pakistan, Iran has expressed interest in increasing its imports of agricultural products, particularly fruits, from Pakistan.
According to Iranian Ambassador Dr Reza Amiri Moghaddam, there is a desire to import more meat, rice, and agricultural products, with a particular focus on mangoes and kinnows. The Iranian people have shown great fondness for Pakistani kinnows.
The Iranian ambassador recently met with Federal Minister of Industries, Production, and National Food Security Rana Tanveer Hussain to discuss bilateral cooperation and matters of mutual interest. During the meeting, the ambassador announced that the Iranian president is expected to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on livestock quarantine and plant protection during his upcoming visit to Pakistan.
The envoy also highlighted Iran’s strong desire to enhance relations with Pakistan across all areas of mutual interest, noting that Iran’s top leadership is in favor of increased cooperation with Pakistan. In addition to agricultural products, the two countries could also collaborate in the fertilizer industry. To further foster cooperation, the Iranian Minister of Industry has invited Pakistan’s federal minister for industries to attend an upcoming meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Tehran.
During the meeting, Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain emphasized the strong bond and brotherhood shared between Pakistan and Iran, highlighting the need to further strengthen their relationship.
