T20 World Cup 2024: Pakistani Ex-Player Makes Astonishing Prediction for India-Pakistan Mega Clash
T20 World Cup 2024: Former Pakistan Star Predicts India’s Victory in Mega Clash against Pakistan
As the highly anticipated T20 World Cup approaches, former players have begun sharing their predictions on the potential outcomes of the matches. The tournament is set to start this Sunday with co-hosts USA and Canada facing off in Dallas. On June 5, India will play their first match against Ireland in New York, followed by a thrilling fixture against Pakistan on June 9.
Despite the ongoing freeze in bilateral series between India and Pakistan, the two teams have met numerous times in recent years due to the increased frequency of multi-nation tournaments post-Covid-19. India had an impeccable record against Pakistan in World Cup matches, be it T20 or ODI, until Pakistan secured a convincing 10-wicket victory during the 2021 T20 World Cup. However, India bounced back with a thrilling win against Pakistan at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in the 2022 edition of the tournament.
As the campaign for both teams is about to begin, former players have already started sharing their predictions on the potential outcome. Former Pakistan wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal believes that India will emerge victorious once again this time around. When asked for his prediction on Instagram, Akmal confidently replied, “Definitely India!”
Akmal also echoes the opinion of former England cricketer Michael Vaughan, who suggests that the defending T20 World Cup champions would have benefited more if their players were allowed to participate in the later stages of the IPL, instead of being withdrawn to play a T20 series against Pakistan at home. Two out of the four matches scheduled in the series had to be cancelled due to weather conditions, with England comfortably winning the games that were played.
“On his YouTube channel, Akmal expressed his thoughts, saying, “Over the past few days, I have wondered why a former England captain is commenting and not taking Pakistan cricket seriously. It’s been a painful thought, but I think he was correct in his assessment.” Akmal agrees with Vaughan’s statement that Pakistan cricket is not at a high level currently. He believes that if the series had been against teams like New Zealand, South Africa, or India, Vaughan would not have made such remarks.
India will have a warm-up match against Bangladesh in the USA on June 1 before facing Pakistan in the tournament.
