The government has granted permission for the export of specific quantities of wheat, wheat flour, and broken rice to various countries. These countries include Bhutan, Mali, and Indonesia. The announcement was made in a notification on Thursday.

For Bhutan, the permitted quantity includes 14,184 tonnes of wheat grain, 5,326 tonnes of atta, 15,226 tonnes of maida/semolina, and 48,804 tonnes of broken rice.

Additionally, broken rice shipments are allowed to Mali (1 lakh tonnes), Senegal (5 lakh tonnes in six months), Gambia (50,000 tonnes in six months), and Indonesia (2 lakh tonnes).

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has stated that the export will be facilitated through the National Cooperative Exports Limited (NCEL). This organization is a company established with cooperative societies as its promoters.

In an effort to boost domestic supply, the government had previously banned exports of wheat and broken rice. However, these outbound shipments are now permitted to certain countries based on their food security needs and request.

The notification clarifies that the export of wheat grain, atta, maida/semolina, and broken rice will be carried out through the National Cooperative Exports Ltd (NCEL).
