The directorate general of foreign trade expressed concern that the export ban on these commodities could affect the state’s exports, as it is one of the largest exporters of these items. Cereals, including rice, account for 13% of the state’s total export basket.
Encouraging Growth Expected in Exports from Madhya Pradesh
Despite the challenges, there is hope for future export growth from Madhya Pradesh. The establishment of several rice mills in the eastern part of the state and the production of engineering products are expected to boost exports in the next fiscal year. More than 200 rice factories have been established in eastern MP, which is anticipated to support the increase in rice exports. Engineering products are also expected to contribute to the state’s export growth.
Export Conclave Highlights Importance of Export-related Schemes
The Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) recently organized an export conclave with the participation of over 80 exporters from Indore and nearby areas. The event included interactive sessions with senior government officials from the directorate general of foreign trade and customs to discuss export insurance and export-related schemes. Despite the challenging year for exports, efforts are being made to support and promote the export industry.
