Oman’s Consul General Sami Abdullah Salim Al Khanjari met with Pakistani businessmen to discuss expanding exports from Pakistan to Oman and boosting bilateral trade. The meeting, held at the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), aimed to diversify trade between the two nations. Pakistan and Oman share strong historical, cultural, and defense ties. Currently, Oman imports rice from Pakistan and values the high quality of the product. However, Khanjari expressed the desire to see a broader range of Pakistani goods exported to Oman, including agricultural products like onions, lentils, mangoes, and potatoes. He urged Karachi’s business community to explore exporting these products to Oman. Khanjari also emphasized the importance of removing any obstacles that hinder trade and called for increased interactions between the two countries through exhibitions and trade visits. The KCCI president highlighted the need to enhance trade volume and suggested reducing trade barriers, diversifying product ranges, simplifying customs procedures, promoting small and medium enterprises, and fostering business collaboration for economic integration. Additionally, he proposed importing LNG and petroleum products from Oman at discounted rates or through deferred payments to help address Pakistan’s energy sector challenges and revive economic growth.
