Agriculture scientists from China tour AARI
Visit from Chinese Agricultural Scientists to Ayub Agriculture Research Institute
The city of Faisalabad recently played host to a delegation of agricultural scientists hailing from the Chinese Province, Hwanghae. Their primary destination was Ayub Agriculture Research Institute (AARI).
At the helm of AARI, Chief Scientist Dr. Muhammad Akhtar acquainted the delegation with the ongoing research activities. Dr. Akhtar revealed that rice exporters from Pakistan managed a successful export of sesame worth Rs 100 billion.
Benefiting from the Chinese delegation’s expertise, Pakistani agriculture scientists aim to improve the manufacturing of high-quality pesticides at a local level. This collaboration extends to enhancing the production of various crops including cotton, Pakistan rice, fruits, and vegetables.
Dr. Akhtar further mentioned that Pakistan had seen significant achievements in three gene varieties of hybrid rice and cotton. The introduction of these new seed varieties stands to further self-sufficiency in agriculture, contributing towards the strengthening of the national economy.
With a focus on indigenous agriculture, the Chief Scientist called upon the delegation for support in developing modern agricultural machinery for small-scale farmers.
The delegation showed a great interest in the research work carried out in Pakistan. Their visit to the AARI saw them touring various labs where they were educated about tissue culture applications in crops such as wheat, potato, and ginger. Additionally, they were also taken to local cotton fields as part of their tour.
