Tan Long Group, a Vietnamese rice producer, dedicated its new paddy-to-rice Hanh Phuc Rice Mill with a grand opening Jan. 18 in the Mekong Delta province of An Giang, Vietnam.

The fifth Vietnam Rice Festival is underway in Vinh Long province in the Mekong Delta on January 7 – 10 as part of an effort to promote Vietnamese rice domestically and globally.

Vietnam’s rice output topped 43.86 million tonnes in 2021, up 1.1 million tonnes year-on-year, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Loc Troi Group (LTG) has announced that it completed the export of final batch of rice this year to Europe, including 4,170 tonnes of jasmine and white rice.

More than 253,300 tonnes of rice aid worth over 2.9 trillion VND (126.35 million USD) had been allocated to help people alleviate the impacts of natural disasters and diseases this year, said the General Department of State Reserves at a press conference held on December 23.

Dec 16 (Reuters) – Export prices for rice from Vietnam hit their lowest level in more than three months due to weak demand, while rates in other Asian hubs held steady this week. Rates for Vietnam’s 5% broken rice variety slipped to $400-$410 per tonne, the lowest since Sept. 9, from $410-$414 per tonne last week.

In 2021, the shrimp-rice farming model has covered the area of nearly 6,000 hectares. Particularly the demonstration of organic rice farming has met the requirements. Tien Phong service cooperative based in Canh Dien 1 hamlet was willing to implement the demonstration model. Twenty-five households of the cooperative participated in the model.

Although the Vietnamese rice industry has set itself an ambitious export target for 2021, domestic rice farmers and suppliers remain cautious amid the ongoing health crisis and complications in international trade.
