Pakistani growers are set to get hybrid seeds of the famous Basmati rice soon with the help of China, a prominent rice grower revealed.

FINANCE minister Mthuli Ncube yesterday filed an appeal against a High Court judgment on Wednesday, which banned the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (Zimra) and Treasury from charging 14,5% value-added tax (VAT) on all imported rice products.

The millers have been deceiving consumers by pruning rice to make it attractive, State Minister for Planning Shamsul Alam said today.
