Centre to buy 15 per cent more paddy from Telangana
The Centre has conceded the demand of the Telangana government to purchase more rice from the state during the ongoing kharif season. It enhanced the procurement target by 6 lakh metric tonnes (LMT), from 40 LMT to 46 LMT.

23 tonnes of ration rice seized, six held in Cuddalore
The Civil Supplies-Criminal Investigation Department sleuths seized 23 tonnes of ration rice, meant for supply under the public distribution system and arrested six persons in this connection on December 26 night. They were identified as M. Ranjith, S. Velmurugan, U. Purushothaman, G. Perumal, M. Ramachandiran and M. Ramalingam.
