Cambodia Earns $4.3 Billion from Agricultural Exports in 2023
Cambodia’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries (MAFF) recently released a report stating that the country generated a gross revenue of $4.3 billion from agricultural exports in 2023. Despite a 1.9 percent decrease compared to the previous year, Cambodia exported approximately 8.45 million tons of agricultural products to 75 countries and regions.
Rice, rubber, cassava, mangoes, fresh bananas, pepper, cashew nuts, longan, corn, and palm oil were among the key agricultural items that contributed to Cambodia’s export success. Notably, China, Vietnam, and Thailand were the major importers of Cambodia’s agricultural products.
Penn Sovicheat, Secretary of State and Spokesperson for Cambodia’s Ministry of Commerce, emphasized the significance of China as a vital market for Cambodian agricultural goods. He highlighted the potential of milled rice, yellow bananas, mangoes, longans, and pepper as key products for export to China. Sovicheat expressed optimism that the export volume to China would increase in the coming year due to the close relationship between the two countries.
With its strategic location in Southeast Asia, Cambodia continues to strengthen its position as a key player in the global agricultural market. The country’s rich natural resources and diverse agricultural products make it an attractive option for buyers worldwide.
