A delegation of 40 newly appointed Trade and Investment Officers (TIOs) recently visited the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Regional Office in Lahore. The purpose of their visit was to discuss ways to enhance Pakistan’s exports.

During the visit, Zaki Ejaz, the FPCCI Regional Chairman and Vice President, emphasized the important role that TIOs play in boosting exports. He highlighted the need for TIOs to facilitate joint ventures, business-to-business meetings, trade delegations, and exhibitions between Pakistani and foreign businesses. Additionally, he stressed the importance of timely sharing of information on certification requirements and value addition with exporters.

Ejaz suggested that TIOs should provide quarterly trade data, including information on Pakistan’s imports and exports with other countries. This data would help Pakistani businesses identify trade opportunities and introduce new products and technologies accordingly.

He also emphasized the need for effective marketing to achieve the target of increasing Pakistan’s exports to $100 billion in the next decade.

In response, FPCCI Vice President Quratul Ain emphasized the importance of regular communication between trade missions and the FPCCI. She proposed that trade missions share reports and data on a monthly basis, enabling the FPCCI to provide relevant data and research-based suggestions.

Shehzad Ahmed Khan, the Director General (Punjab) of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), supported the FPCCI’s recommendations and commended its efforts to promote exports.

During the meeting, representatives from various sectors briefed the TIOs on their respective industries. These sectors included rice, poultry and frozen food, packaging, fan industry, dairy, automotive parts and accessories, logistics, and more.

Overall, the visit of the TIO delegation to the FPCCI Regional Office provided an opportunity to discuss strategies for enhancing exports and promoting trade between Pakistan and other countries.
