Arsenal Provides Injury Updates on Gabriel Magalhaes and Declan Rice

Arsenal’s head coach, Mikel Arteta, has given updates on the injuries of Gabriel Magalhaes and Declan Rice following their 5-0 victory over Crystal Palace on Saturday.

The Gunners secured a crucial win at the Emirates Stadium, reigniting their pursuit of the Premier League title after a disappointing run of results. Arsenal had fallen behind Liverpool and Manchester City in the title race, managing only one win and suffering three losses in their last five league games.

However, their victory over Crystal Palace brought some relief. Arsenal led 2-0 at half-time, with goals from Gabriel and an own goal by Dean Henderson, both resulting from corners. Leandro Trossard added a third goal just before the hour mark, and Gabriel Martinelli’s late brace in stoppage time turned the comfortable victory into a thrashing.

Unfortunately, Arsenal did not emerge unscathed. Rice grimaced as he left the pitch in the 73rd minute, raising concerns. Gabriel also seemed to have picked up an injury, making way for Jakub Kiwior 10 minutes from time.

After the match, Arteta confirmed that Rice was substituted as a precaution due to discomfort in his hamstring. Gabriel, on the other hand, is a bigger concern with a knee issue.

“Declan [Rice] was feeling something, a sensation in his hamstring, so we won’t take any risks at 3-0,” Arteta explained. “The other is Gabriel Magalhaes. He had a tackle in the first half on his knee, and he was struggling. I hope [it’s not serious].”

Arsenal is currently dealing with several other injuries, with Jurrien Timber, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Mohamed Elneny, Thomas Partey, and Fabio Viera all sidelined.

The team will resume play in 10 days with a potentially challenging visit to Nottingham Forest. Nottingham Forest, under the management of former Tottenham Hotspur boss Nuno Espirito Santo, has become more resilient. Arteta aims to utilize this period to provide some rest for his players before returning to training.
