Price of Rice Drops Following Decreases in Wheat and Flour
Rewritten Article:
The price of rice in Pakistan has seen a significant drop of almost Rs60 per kg in the past two months, following the success of effective policies implemented by the Punjab government. Various types of rice have become more affordable, with prices decreasing by Rs50 to Rs60 per kg.
One example is Super Kainat rice, which is now selling for Rs280 per kg, a decrease of Rs60. Super Basmati rice is now priced at Rs210 per kg, Rs50 cheaper than before. Similarly, Super Kernal rice is available for Rs270 per kg, which is also a decrease of Rs50.
The decrease in rice prices can be attributed to a better rice harvest in the last season and the implementation of effective government policies. These factors have helped to eliminate artificial inflation in the market, leading to more affordable prices for consumers.
In other news, the Excise Department has been cracking down on unregistered vehicles and token tax defaulters in Lahore. According to Chaudhry Asif, Director Motors of the Excise Department, each vehicle owes Rs522,000 in taxes. The department stopped three vehicles belonging to the tourism department at Liberty Naka for not paying the required tax despite being reminded several times.
As of Sunday afternoon, more than 300 vehicle challans have been issued and 20 vehicles have been impounded in the city. To ensure compliance, daily checks will be conducted during the last 7 days of the financial year. The check points will remain operational until 8pm at 8 different locations under the leadership of the Excise and Taxation Officer (ETO).
Overall, the decrease in rice prices and the strict enforcement of tax regulations by the Excise Department reflect positive developments in the agricultural and regulatory sectors in Pakistan.
