Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has been removed from his position on the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC). Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will now serve as the Committee’s Chairman. Additionally, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar is being considered for the role as well.

The ECNEC committee is comprised of eight total members, with representation from each of the provinces. Jam Khan Shoro represents Sindh, Muzammil Aslam represents Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa as the Adviser to the Chief Minister, and Shoaib Nosherwani represents Balochistan as the Finance Minister.

The ECNEC is an important economic decision-making body, responsible for approving construction projects valued at 10 billion rupees or more. It is expected that significant development projects in the field of communications will be carried out under the Council’s supervision.
