Pakistan to Host Khalifa International Award for Date Palm & Agriculture Innovation
Pakistan is set to host this year’s Khalifa International Award for Date Palm & Agriculture Innovation in collaboration with the international award organizer. The announcement came during a meeting between Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Pakistan Ambassador to the UAE, and Dr Abdelouahhab Zaid, Secretary General of the Khalifa International Award, in Abu Dhabi.
The meeting served as an opportunity to discuss the partnership between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates, with a focus on enhancing Pakistan’s capacity in date palm cultivation, production, and processing technology. Both parties also discussed the preparations for the upcoming Date Palm festival in Pakistan, which is scheduled to take place in the last quarter of 2024.
Dr Abdelouahhab Zaid expressed the Khalifa Award’s support for the development and strengthening of Pakistan’s date palm cultivation sector. Tirmizi praised the support from the Khalifa International Award and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to collaborate in organizing the festival and implementing the previously signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two sides.
In February 2024, the Federal Ministry of National Food Security & Research in Pakistan and the Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agriculture Innovation UAE signed an MoU to formalize their cooperation.
