Financial Facilitation to Boost Pak-China Business Activities, says NBP President Hasnie

National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) President, Mr. Rehmat Ali Hasnie, recently attended the Pakistan China Business Conference in Shenzhen, China. The conference aimed to strengthen economic ties between the two nations and attract Chinese investors through business-to-business (B2B) projects. Mr. Hasnie, part of the delegation accompanying Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, engaged in discussions with key officials and representatives to explore potential opportunities.

During the conference, Mr. Hasnie met with Mr. Shi Weigan, Director-General of the Shenzhen Local Financial Supervision Administration, to discuss the establishment of an NBP branch in Shenzhen and explore the city’s government incentives. These discussions aimed to create a platform for NBP to expand its services in China.

Additionally, Mr. Hasnie held fruitful discussions with representatives from the Ministry of Finance and Silk Road International Investment Management Co. Ltd. (SRIIF) to explore potential collaboration opportunities. This collaboration could lead to the development of mutually beneficial projects and initiatives between NBP and Chinese entities.

In his pursuit of exploring avenues for collaboration, Mr. Hasnie also met with Mr. Wallace Lai, COO of Huawei Technologies, and Mr. Ethan Sun, CEO of Huawei Pakistan. Their discussions focused on potential collaboration in the areas of smart products, financial solutions, and services. Mr. Hasnie visited the Huawei Technology Centre to gain insights into the company’s latest advancements.

In an interview with China Economic News and PTV, Pakistan’s national television network, Mr. Hasnie expressed his optimism about the conference. He emphasized the significance of this event in opening a “new chapter” for both countries and the intention to create a business-friendly environment. NBP is fully committed to offering maximum banking facilitation to businesses emerging from this collaboration.
