The atmosphere was reminiscent of a thrilling Marseille football match, providing a great relief to the organizers. The torch then continued its journey, attracting large crowds along the way. It is estimated that nearly 1.2 million people came out to watch the relay, creating a lively atmosphere similar to that of the Tour de France. However, ensuring the safety of the event has been a major priority, with a procession of 200 police officers accompanying the torch at every step.
Despite concerns, the torch relay did encounter some protesters along the way, although their protests remained relatively peaceful during the first month.
The Paris Olympic Games are quickly gaining momentum, and the success of the torch relay has further heightened the excitement. With the opening ceremony just around the corner, the anticipation and support from the French public is stronger than ever.
