IPO Pakistan Holds Meeting to Coordinate IPR Enforcement

The Intellectual Property Organization of Pakistan (IPO-Pakistan) recently conducted a meeting of the Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Enforcement Coordination Committee at their headquarters. Chaired by Shazia Adnan, the Director General of IPO-Pakistan, the meeting saw the participation of representatives from various law enforcement entities including the Islamabad police, Rawalpindi police, Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA), Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan, and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), as reported in a press release.

The primary objective of the meeting was to strengthen coordination and cooperation among stakeholders in order to effectively enforce intellectual property rights in Pakistan. The Director General of IPO-Pakistan, in her welcome address, emphasized the significance of collective efforts in protecting intellectual property rights in the country. She highlighted the role of IPR enforcement in promoting innovation, creativity, and economic growth.

Nasir Mahmood Zahid, the Director of Enforcement, provided an overview of intellectual property management and IPR enforcement in Pakistan. He discussed the existing challenges and opportunities in IPR enforcement and emphasized the importance of a coordinated approach to address these issues.

The meeting also included a comprehensive discussion on several topics such as adapting the IPO Act of 2012, conducting awareness sessions for the business community, enhancing capacity building for IPR enforcement agencies, establishing an online IPR complaint system, and drafting IPR enforcement rules.

Throughout the meeting, participants shared their experiences and expertise, fostering a culture of collaboration. The session concluded with a question-and-answer session and closing remarks by the Director General of IPO-Pakistan. The attendees expressed their commitment to working together to strengthen IPR enforcement in Pakistan, ultimately promoting a culture of innovation and creativity.

This meeting marks a significant step towards enhancing coordination and cooperation among stakeholders in the protection of intellectual property rights in Pakistan.
