Major rice smuggling scandal uncovered in Kamrup, Assam
Scandal Involving Smuggling of Rice Exposed in Kamrup District
A major scandal has recently been uncovered in Kamrup district, involving the smuggling of rice by the Food Corporation of India (FCI). The Pasaria group has been accused of running an illegal operation in the fields, where FCI rice is transported to an undisclosed warehouse.
Unscrupulous traders are allegedly participating in a black market scheme by closing the main gates of the godown to conduct their activities covertly. Despite attempts by Kamrup district administration officials and journalists to gain access to the godowns, they have been consistently denied.
However, a breakthrough occurred when a group of journalists, acting on a tip-off, managed to capture footage of the illicit activities inside the godown using a hidden camera. The footage revealed the extent of the operation, prompting the officials from the Food and Civil Supplies Department of Kamrup to take immediate action.
Initially reluctant, the Food and Civil Supplies Department has now ordered a thorough investigation into the incident. The key figure in the scandal has been identified as a man named Bajaj. Bajaj, a prominent rice trader, is accused of repackaging FCI rice into sacks labeled “555” and selling it at inflated prices in the market.
It has been alleged that Bajaj has strong connections with certain political figures and officials in Kamrup, which has facilitated the flourishing of this smuggling operation. A large quantity of rice has been moved in and out of the godown as a part of this scheme.
The Kamrup district administration is now facing significant pressure to take decisive action against all those involved in this fraudulent activity. The public and various stakeholders are eagerly awaiting the next steps that will be taken to address and resolve this major scandal.
